The PTA needs YOU! Elections for next year's PTA board are coming up soon, so please consider running for one of the following positions:
President: runs meetings, liaises with the principal, and coordinates PTA activities during the year.
Vice-President: assists the president as needed, and arranges babysitting and fliers for meetings/events.
Treasurer: keeps the accounts, produces reports for PTA meetings, writes checks, files tax returns.
Secretary: takes minutes at meetings, maintains membership database.
Vice-PresidentforLegislation: keeps track of educational legislation and communicates any important information to the membership.
There are notes explaining everything you need to do, and previous board members are available to help new members learn how to do the job.
**There will be no PTA next year if these positions are not filled!**
The PTA also desperately needs volunteers willing to assist these board members, for example filling out tax forms for the treasurer, filling out and distributing membership cards for the secretary, copying fliers for the vp, as well as organizing and assisting with events during the year, such as Spring Fair, Teacher Appreciation, Multicultural Dinner, and the Labor Day book sale. For more information, if you are willing to help in any capacity, or if you know somebody who might be willing to help, please contact Anne Gardner.
The GES PTA is honored to be receiving a generous grant of $4000 from the Greenbelt Community Foundation. These funds are to launch the GES Arts in Action Fund, an arts-integration grant program for Greenbelt Elementary School teachers to enhance arts and movement-focused instruction in the classroom.
Upcoming dates:
Friday, 2/12 : School closed, Professional Development Day
Monday, 2/15 : School closed, President's Day
PTA meetings are the first Tuesday of every month, from 7:00-8:30 pm.
