Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!

Latest announcements:

  • Career Day is May 23 from 9:30 am- 12:00 pm. If you would like to come in or know someone else that would like to share information about a career, please contact donna.behe@pgcps.org or (301) 513-5911
  • Mark your calendars for our annual Multicultural Dinner on May 24 at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:00 pm, families bring food to share. Suggested items are:
    --Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade: Salads/Breads
    --2nd-3rd grades: Main Dishes
    --4th-5th grades: Side Dishes
    --6th grade: Desserts

    Bring a dish and you will receive a Golden Spoon for a family of four and pay just $1, with additional family members $1 each.
    Without a dish, pay $5.00 per family of four with additional family members $1 each.
    Teachers are FREE!

    Y-Ties and Greenbelt Elementary T-shirts will be sold (cash only).
  • Field Day is coming!

    Thursday, May 24: grades K, 1, 2, and 5 - 9:30-11:45 am
    Friday, May 25: grades 3, 4, and 6 - 9:30-11:45 am

    If you are able to volunteer, please contact your child's classroom teacher ASAP. Parents will be able to stay with their own child throughout the day while helping with activities and supervision.

    Students must wear shoes (no sandals / flip-flops / Crocs / etc.).
    Students should wear comfortable clothing (anticipate getting dusty, sweaty
    &/or wet).
    Students should wear sunscreen/hats for protection. It will be hot so we encourage students to bring their own water bottle; however, PLEASE make sure it's labeled with their name and teacher. We had many lost bottles last year. Water will also be provided for them if they don't want to carry their own bottle.

    Parents who have volunteered to help need to arrive by 9:15am. Here's to a fun field day!
  • The School Planning and Management Team met in April 2012, discussing student-based budgeting, proposed class size for the 12-13 school year, school improvement plan, and the Accelerated Reader program. See the full notes here.
  • All families are encouraged to join the PTA. Please fill out the membership form and return to the school.

PTA meetings are the first Tuesday of every month, from 7:00-8:30 pm.

 

 

GES PTA

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Greenbelt Elementary School PTA is to:

a. Promote activities that enhance the joy and well-being of GES students and staff in a way that complements and enriches the learning environment;

b. Advocate on behalf of students, staff and the school;

c. Build community within the school, and enhance the relationship among the school, parents, and the wider community; and, encourage the community's investment of time, energy and money into Greenbelt's public schools.
