Disclaimer: The results include everyone who completed the 5K Race.  A few runners' times were not recorded probably because the electronic chip was not laced into the runner's shoe.

Rafael’s Race is sponsored by the Greenbelt Elementary School PTA.

The race is powered by teachers and families who were moved by Rafael's unstoppable spirit. Rafael Martins was a 4th grade student at Greenbelt Elementary School. Unfortunately, Rafael passed away in October of 2009.

His last day of school was a field trip to Bladensburg Waterfront Park, where he and his classmates took part in learning about nature and animal habitats. As the class was leaving to return to school Rafael saw an American Bald Eagle soaring overhead.

Proceeds will support the PTA's mission to offer activities that enhance the joy and well-being of GES students and staff in a way that compliments and enriches the learning environment. All proceeds collected from this race will be used to support student field trips.

Participants:

Pre-registration for Rafael's Race has ended.  You may register on Saturday, October 22 at the race site (GES) starting at 8:15 a.m.  Registration for the 1K Fun Run will end at 8:30 a.m.  Registration for the 5K Road Race will end at 8:45 a.m.

Maps: 1K and 5K
Please note: no headphones, strollers or baby joggers allowed on the course.

The main parking lot at GES will be closed on the day of the race, but limited parking will be available in the bus lot. Early arrival is recommended to find parking.

Pricing:

Pre-registration must be postmarked by 10/16: (PRE-REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED)

• 5K -- $20
• 1K -- $10
• Student (age 18 and under) on a School Team 5K -- $15
• Student (age 18 and under) on a School Team 1K -- $8

On site registration day of race:

• 5K -- $25
• 1K -- $12

All payments must be made out to: GES PTA.
