    Q.  When I try to connect to GREENBELT.COM, the line is busy.
    A.  This problem should occur rarely, as it is the ISP's policy not to tolerate busy signals. However, there may be occasional peak calling periods when all lines/modems are busy. All ISP modem banks are equipped for expected traffic loads. Also occasionally, some modems or lines may be out of service due to equipment failure. Hang up and redial. If the problem continues, report it, then try again later. By policy, the ISP will periodically increase the total number of lines available to accommodate increasing traffic loads.

    Q.  When I try to connect to GREENBELT.COM, the phone rings many times and is never answered.

    A.  This condition may occur when a line is available but a modem is not, usually because the modem did not reset properly at the end of a call or is still in the process of doing so. For practical purposes, this situation is equivalent to the "busy" situation described above. Nothing is gained by allowing the line to ring more than 3-4 times; it will never be answered. Hang up and redial. If the problem continues, report it, then try again later.

    Q.  When I try to connect to GREENBELT.COM, my password is rejected.

A1.  Passwords are case-sensitive, i.e., an uppercase "A" will not match a lowercase "a". Ensure that you are entering the password correctly.

A2.  If your computer is (or has ever been) connected to a network, there may be a driver in the network protocol stack that conflicts with the TCP/IP operation of your dialer. Ask your network administrator to reconfigure the protocol stack to eliminate the conflict.

A3.  If your account is new and your password has never been used successfully, ask the Membership Committee to verify or reset your password(s). Be sure to specify which password (connect, mailbox or website) is giving you trouble.
