GREENBELT TENNIS DOUBLES TOURNAMENT

The only doubles tournament of the season will be held by the Greenbelt Tennis Association at Braden Field Tennis Courts on June 24-25, 2006. Draws will be held for all ages and abilities: Senior (60+), A, B, and Mixed. All regular singles players are encouraged to consider forming a doubles team and entering one or two events.

A tent will be set up at the courts with light refreshments for players. Trophies will go to the winners and runner-ups. Those interested should send an entry form, which is available on the GTA website at www.greenbelt.com/tennis, or call GTA at 301-595-5833.

The next singles competition will be the Firecracker Tournament on July 15-16, 2006. In the meantime, ladder play continues, with 18 matches completed in the first two months of play. Surprisingly, the top players have gone unchallenged so far.

Nick Nayak, Anil Nayak, and Benson King won the A, B, and 50+ draws respectively at the Membership Tournament in May. Remember, membership fees in GTA have been reduced this year to only $10, with tournament entry fees set at only $5 for members and $10 for non-members.
